INGREDIENTS / 10
- Onions - 2 big ones or 3 medium ones
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Cornflour - 1/3 cup
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon, optional
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cool water - 1 cup
- Bread crumbs - 1 1/2 cups
- Oil - for deep frying

Peel and slice the onions.

Separate into rings and set aside.

Add the flour and cornflour into a bowl.

Add the salt, baking powder, paprika and black pepper.

Whisk to combine.

Toss the onions slices into the flour mixture until they are well coated. Tap out the excess, and place on a plate.

Pour the cold water into the flour mixture.

Mix until smooth.

Dip the onion rings in the batter, one at a time and coat.

Place in the bread crumbs and pat until they are well coated.

Repeat the process for the remaining rings

Deep fry in hot oil for about 2 minutes or until golden.

Drain on paper towels to soak up excess oil.
