- 01
Heat up some oil on medium low heat for deep frying.

- 02
Cut the hot dogs in half.

- 03
Insert the wooden skewers. If you have the long skewers, break them in half and use scissors to trim them.

- 04
Coat the dogs with flour and set aside.

- 05
Add the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, black pepper, nutmeg, turmeric, and salt into a bowl. Mix to combine.
You can add whatever spice and herb you like to the batter. Be creative!

- 06
Add one large egg

- 07
And the milk.

- 08
Mix to combine. The batter doesn't have to be completely smooth.

- 09
Roll the hot dogs in the batter one at a time.
You could transfer the batter into a tall glass cup and dip the hot dogs in it if that'd be easier for you.

- 10
Gently drop the hot dogs in the hot oil, 3 to 4 at a time. Fry until golden.

- 11
Remove from the oil and drain on paper napkins to soak up excess oil.

- 12
This is what it looks like on the inside.

- 13
Serve hot with pepper sauce or ketchup and/or mustard.
